Joseph Bastien is Anishinaabe (Ojibway) from Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, a graduate of the University of Toronto (Political Science and Aboriginal Studies), and a Masters Candidate (Political Science) at the University of Victoria. Joseph’s work explores the legal and political environment of First Nations consultations and agreement negotiations, trends in corporate social responsibility and risk management, and methods to encourage engagement and improve relations amongst First Nations communities, governments, and corporate stakeholders. Joseph has over 15 years of experience working with Aboriginal communities and organizations, and has previously served with the British Columbia Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ontario Power Authority, and the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC).
